A beautiful Rolleiflex Standard. This is the Model 620, produced between 1932 and 1938. The taking lens is a Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 75mm f3.5, the fastest lens offered in the Standard series.
Judging from the production period of the Tessar lens, this Standard was likely made around 1936. It shoots 6x6 format on 120 film. The top shutter speed is 1/500, with a Compur shutter. The actual measured weight is 773g.
Incidentally, the most popular Standard has long been the one fitted with the slowest Tessar f4.5 lens, also Model 620. The f4.5 Standard was produced in smaller numbers to begin with, and clean examples are even harder to find. If you ever come across one, please let us know!
Much like a Leica Model A, its gentle black and nickel feel, along with its compact and charming presence, make it especially appealing. Its richly old-fashioned rendering is simply wonderful.
There are some areas of black paint loss on the edges around the body. There are also small scratches on the edge of the back door and on the winding lever, but no noticeable dents or dings. For a Rolleiflex Standard, this is a very beautiful example. The nameplate, the exposure table on the back door, and the depth-of-field table on the hood, all of which are prone to wear, remain in beautiful condition.
Overhauled in June 2026. All controls now operate smoothly. The Compur shutter has a gentle, pleasing sound. The mirror and focusing screen are also clean, and for a Standard, focusing is quite easy. The spirit level on the screen is also working properly.
The taking lens has some haze that could not be fully removed during cleaning, but it is thin and only visible when held up to LED light, so it should have almost no effect on actual shooting. Although around 90 years have passed since it was made, there are no noticeable cleaning marks or fungus.
Comes with a beautiful original period lens cap, case, and a rare original box.
