Serial number is in the 3.28 million range, manufactured in 1983. Optical construction consists of 5 groups and 7 elements. Minimum focusing distance is 1 meter. Compatible hood is 12504. Filters are Series VII, inserted within the 12504 hood.
The Summilux 35mm 2nd was produced over a remarkably long period from 1961 to 1995 without a model change, and it continues to enjoy strong popularity today. Its rendering characteristics have been widely discussed, but what makes this lens particularly appealing is the dramatic shift between wide open and stopped down performance. At full aperture, it delivers a dreamy, soft, and atmospheric image. As it is stopped down, sharpness and contrast increase significantly, resulting in a more three-dimensional and defined rendering. An exceptionally clean example with virtually no signs of use. Even the front rim, which is prone to wear from hood attachment and removal, shows no paint loss.
Fully overhauled in March 2026, including focus adjustment. Thanks to the careful servicing, both the aperture ring and helicoid operate with a very smooth, refined feel. Rangefinder coupling is spot-on even at full aperture, and focus accuracy is excellent.
Complementing its beautiful exterior, the glass is also in excellent condition, free from haze or noticeable cleaning marks. It is clear and crisp, with superb transparency. Test shots have also confirmed excellent performance.
Comes with original front and rear caps, a very clean 12504 hood, a Series 7 filter with its original box, and the original packaging. The plastic front cap has been modified with a small air hole for easier removal.
