Leica M3 Black Paint. A late single-stroke M3 finished in black paint. Serial number in the 1.05 million range, this example was shipped on October 24, 1962. The same month and year as the Cuban Missile Crisis, the greatest crisis of the Cold War. An M3 Black born in a year forever etched into postwar history.
An original-condition camera retaining all of its factory parts, including the vulcanite covering. The black paint remains beautifully intact, while still offering just the right balance for practical everyday use.
Previously handled by our shop. After more than a decade, it has finally made its way back to us once again.
A small amount of brass is showing on areas frequently touched by hand, such as the edges, bottom plate, and shutter release collar. There are also two tiny dings on the top cover, but no other noticeable dents or heavy impacts. It gives the impression of a camera that has been carefully used and enjoyed over the years. Neither overly pristine nor excessively worn, it sits in that perfect sweet spot of honest user condition.
Fully overhauled in April 2026. Film advance, shutter operation, and all controls feel exceptionally smooth. The finder remains clear with no balsam separation, and the rangefinder patch retains strong contrast. The vulcanite covering is original throughout.
An M3 black paint body that still preserves its originality in all the right places. Please continue to use and enjoy it for many years to come.
