Introduced in 2003 and produced until 2009, marking the end of the Leica R series. This particular lens bears a serial number in the 3.97 million range and was manufactured in its first year of production, 2003. With an estimated production of around 2,600 units, it is considered somewhat rare.

Featuring an optical design of 8 groups and 11 elements, including two aspherical surfaces. The maximum aperture is f2.8 at the wide end and f4.5 at the telephoto end. Covering commonly used focal lengths from 28mm to 90mm, including 28, 35, 50, 70, and 90mm, it offers excellent versatility in practical use. The lens is also relatively compact for its class.

Above all, it is highly regarded for its outstanding image quality. Even on modern high-resolution digital cameras, its excellent optical performance is clearly evident. The minimum focusing distance is 0.6m. Filter size is E67.

Minor loss of black paint is visible on the hood, helicoid ring, and aperture ring due to use, but it still maintains a clean overall appearance. A well-balanced condition for those who want to enjoy shooting without hesitation.
All functions operate properly. Some focus shift is observed during zooming. Actual shooting tests produced good results.
On the front element, there are a few very faint linear cleaning marks, and very slight coating wear on each element that is only visible under strong LED light. These have virtually no effect on image quality. No noticeable scratches or haze are present.
Comes with an E67 UVa filter and original front and rear caps.
