Alpa 9d. An eye-level single-lens reflex camera made by Pignons S.A. of Switzerland. Following the Topcon RE Super and Pentax Spotmatic, it was the third TTL metering camera to appear in the world. Among Alpa cameras, which were positioned as high-end products and produced in relatively small numbers, the 9d became the best-selling model. A total of 4,391 silver-finished bodies and 665 black-finished bodies were produced.
There was also a rare version finished in green for the American distributor.
The appeal of Alpa lies not only in the solid feel, elaborate construction, and careful finishing that are characteristic of a high-end camera made in small numbers, but also in its remarkably diverse range of lenses.
As Alpa did not produce its own lenses, it offered a wide variety of lenses from excellent manufacturers around the world.
The lineup included lenses from Kern and Spectros of Switzerland, Old Delft of the Netherlands, Schneider and Kilfitt of Germany, Angénieux and Kinoptik of France, as well as Chinon and Asahi Optical of Japan, making for an exceptionally diverse selection of lenses.

Many Alpa cameras show noticeable scuffs and paint loss due to the delicate silver-painted finish, but this example is exceptionally clean.
There is some rubbing around the strap lugs from the strap fittings, but even the textured paint loss commonly seen along the angular edges of the top cover is minimal. The rubber eyecup is also in good condition.
The serial numbers on the body and bottom plate match.
Fully overhauled in August 2026. All functions operate properly, with smooth film advance and good shutter operation. The exposure meter is also working properly and has been tested with a VARTA V625U / LR9 battery.
