※About rarity

Dallmeyer Anastigmat 2 inch f1.5, approximately 50mm. A 4-group, 7-element design, with one more element than the Super Six.

This lens began life as a Dallmeyer cine lens and has been carefully converted to Leica M mount with full rangefinder coupling. It had previously undergone a different conversion, but we were not satisfied with the quality, so we reworked it entirely in-house. The result is a natural appearance and excellent handling, as if it had originally been made this way.

This example is the same optical formula as the renowned Septac and is believed to date from shortly before the name was changed to Septac. The barrel bears the DC engraving for Dall Coated, and it features the same pale blue coating seen on the Septac and Super Six. Weight is 297g. Minimum focusing distance is 0.7m.

True to Dallmeyer’s large-aperture lenses, it delivers a refined, elegant, and deeply moving rendering. Near wide open, images are delicate and beautifully detailed, wrapped in a gentle veil. Stopped down to f2.8, contrast rises dramatically, transforming the rendering into something bold and powerful.

A rare lens with a poetic, emotionally evocative character. One could call it the ultimate expression of a Dallmeyer lens. A true rarity.

Originally sold by our shop. It was carefully used by the previous owner and has now returned to us.

Just as when we last sold it, there is some black paint loss on the front edge of the barrel, but otherwise the exterior remains quite clean. The one-off custom-made aluminum intermediate ring adds a very nice accent.

In 2025, the lens head underwent a full overhaul and was re-converted to Leica M mount. The tasteful finish is so well executed that it is hard to believe it is a modified piece.

Thanks to careful servicing, the aperture ring, helicoid, and all other controls operate very smoothly. Rangefinder coupling is spot on from infinity down to the minimum focusing distance of around 0.7m.

There are quite a lot of cleaning marks on the glass surfaces. It is a regrettable point for such a rare and celebrated lens, and under backlit conditions it may render slightly whitish.

In actual shooting tests, however, it delivered a truly Septac-like rendering. Wide open, it produces a beautifully soft image with finely defined lines coexisting within the gentleness.

The sample images are from when we previously sold it; we would appreciate it if you could take a look at the gallery.
