Summicron 35mm f2, second generation, commonly known as the 6-element version. Black barrel. Serial number in the 2.82 million range. Made in 1977 by Leitz Canada.
Minimum focusing distance is 0.7 m. Filter size is E39. Compatible hoods include 12585 and 12504.
Often overlooked in the shadow of the highly praised first-generation 8-element version, this second-generation 6-element Summicron delivers a surprisingly rich and dense rendering that belies its lightweight, compact barrel. As with every generation, the Summicron proves to be a consistently reliable performer. An excellent lens for everyday shooting and street photography.
This is an item previously sold by our shop. It was carefully used by the customer and has now come back to us again. This will be the fourth time we are offering it for sale.
Just as at the time of the previous sale, it shows very little signs of use and retains a deep, clean finish. No noticeable scratches or paint loss can be found.
A full overhaul was carried out in 2020. Thanks to the careful servicing, the aperture and helicoid still operate very smoothly even after several years. The aperture blades are clean, and rangefinder coupling is spot on.
There is an extremely faint haze along the edge of the middle element, but it has virtually no effect on actual shooting. Aside from that, there are no cleaning marks, and the glass is clear and bright. Test shots produced excellent results.
Original front and rear caps and a UVa II filter 13030 are included.
