Coated Elmar 35mm f3.5.
Leitz product code EKURZ. Serial number in the 650,000 range, manufactured in 1948. Leica screw mount. A welcome meter distance scale.
Among Leitz lenses, it is the second thinnest design after the Hektor 28mm. Mounted on a Barnack Leica or even on an M-type Leica, its compact size provides excellent mobility. An easy lens to slip into a camera bag as an extra.
Wide open, it delivers a characterful rendering with some natural vignetting toward the edges. A classic design that reveals more depth the more it is used, making it a lens that never grows tiresome. This example is coated, allowing for more controlled rendering in backlit situations or scenes with strong light.
A long-loved classic Leica wide-angle lens that has been gaining renewed appreciation in recent years.
Compatible hoods include the FLQOO and FOOKH. Our in-house FB-07 Elmar hood with aperture operation function can also be used.
A relatively deep 2–3 mm scratch is visible on the flat area at the base of the infinity lock lever. It is quite unfortunate, as the rest of the lens is in very fine condition. Aside from this point, it ranks among the better examples in terms of exterior appearance. The chrome plating retains a beautiful luster.
Fully overhauled in February 2026. The aperture and helicoid now operate with a very smooth feel. Rangefinder coupling is perfectly accurate.
Under strong LED light, only very slight coating marks can be seen, and even then they are barely noticeable. They should have no practical effect on image quality.
The results of our shooting test were excellent. Sample images are available in the sample gallery. All were taken without a hood, yet the lens maintained solid contrast even under backlit conditions.
Third-party front and rear caps are included.
