Black/chrome Elmar 90mm f4. Leitz product code ELANG. Manufactured in 1937. Distance scale in feet. Compared to the early Fat Elmar, this version is commonly referred to as the Thin Elmar. Uncoated.
Later versions were coated, converted to M mount, and made collapsible, with production continuing until 1964, reflecting the enduring popularity of its rendering.
Its compact size allows it to slip neatly into your camera bag.
Minor brass exposure can be seen on the front edge of the barrel and on the knurled helicoid. There are also very slight signs of use such as faint scuffs on the chrome parts, but no noticeable damage. Considering that nearly 90 years have passed since its manufacture, it remains in remarkably clean cosmetic condition.
Fully overhauled in April 2026. Thanks to careful servicing, the aperture and helicoid operate with a smooth, well-damped feel, offering an उत्कृष्ट handling experience. Rangefinder coupling is spot on, and focusing is accurate.
The front and rear elements show slight aging-related haze that is only barely visible under strong LED light, and it should have no noticeable impact on actual shooting. Overall, the glass condition is quite good and matches the clean exterior.
Comes with third-party front and rear caps, along with the original box.
