Late-type lens hood for the Nikkor 28mm f3.5 in Nikon S mount. Compared to the earlier all-chrome version, this later model features a two-tone finish with black paint and glossy chrome plating, matching well with the later black-barrel lenses.

Screw-in type. The hood has a two-piece construction, allowing a Series VII filter to be inserted between the sections. Beautifully finished with a high-quality feel, and a clean, elegant design.

As is often the case with Nikkor wide-angle lens hoods, this is a rare item that is not easy to find. At the time, this hood was not included with the lens and was sold as an optional accessory. Since Nikkor wide-angle lenses already have a recessed, hood-like front design and do not fit well in camera or lens cases when the hood is attached, usability was not ideal. As a result, only a small number of these hoods were distributed, making them quite scarce today.

Compared to the earlier chrome version, this later black hood is somewhat easier to find, but it remains a sufficiently rare item.

There are slight paint losses on the front edge of the hood, and light scuffs with some dulling of the chrome plating on the base, but overall it remains in reasonably good condition.
The semi-matte black paint and the crisp shine of the chrome plating truly reflect the high quality of Nikkor products from that era.
