Tele-Elmarit-M 90mm f2.8, second-generation compact short telephoto lens. Often regarded as a typical prone-to-haze model, but this example features remarkably clean glass. Serial number 3.29 million, manufactured in 1983, made by Leitz Canada. Black chrome finish. Leitz product code 11800. Minimum focusing distance is 1 meter. Optical construction of 4 groups, 4 elements. Filter size E39.
Even smaller and lighter than the popular first-generation Tele-Elmarit 90mm, which is already known for its standard-lens-like compactness. Actual weight is 225g. Lightweight, compact, and easy to handle, ideal for street shooting or travel. A lens you will want to keep tucked away in your bag.
This item was previously sold by our shop and has now returned to us. It has been carefully used by the customer and remains in the same fine condition as when it was last sold.
There is a tiny paint loss, no more than the tip of a needle, on the knurled section, but there is hardly any wear from use, resulting in a very clean exterior overall.
Fully overhauled in 2025. Thanks to careful servicing, the helicoid operates smoothly, the aperture clicks are crisp, and both rangefinder coupling and focus are spot on.
Most second-generation Tele-Elmarit lenses show noticeable haze on the middle and/or rear elements that cannot be removed even with cleaning, making truly good examples quite hard for us to come by. This lens retains only a very slight haze-like coating deterioration at the periphery of the rear element, at a level that has almost no effect on actual image quality. For this lens, the glass is exceptionally clean. No other noticeable cleaning marks or scratches are present.
Actual shooting tests produced excellent results. Sample images from the previous sale are available in our sample gallery, and we would be pleased if you take a look.
A rubber 11251 hood, a B+W Series 5.5 filter, and a 11251 filter ring are included. You can drop it straight into your camera bag and head out shooting.
