※About rarity

Macro-Elmar-M 90mm f4, first generation. Leica M mount. Leica product code 11633, produced from 2003 to 2012. For reference, the current second-generation version carries product code 11670 and has been in production since 2014.
It features the traditional Leitz/Leica collapsible barrel design, allowing the lens to be stored very compactly. Introduced in 2003. This example bears a serial number in the 4.17 million range and was manufactured in 2012. Made in Germany. Production is said to be around 5,400 units, and availability on the market is relatively limited. Optical construction is 4 elements in 4 groups. Accepts E39 filters.
As the name suggests, macro photography is possible. The minimum focusing distance with the lens alone is 0.7 m, but close-up shooting becomes available when used with a dedicated macro adapter. With the goggles-type 14409 adapter, close focusing down to 50 cm at 1:3 is possible, while the current non-goggles 14652 adapter allows focusing to 42 cm at 1:2.
The lens alone weighs just 223 g, and when collapsed it is about the same size as a Summicron 50mm. An ideal companion for travel and snapshots, and a great size to keep tucked away in a camera bag.
While the glass itself appears to be the same for both the first and second generations, a key advantage of this first-generation version is compatibility with the classic 12575 hood.

No signs of use. No wear on the collapsible barrel either, truly in like-new condition.
Fully overhauled in January 2026. The aperture and helicoid now operate with a smooth, damped feel. Rangefinder coupling is spot on.
The glass shows only extremely minor coating wear, visible only when held up to LED light. No haze, clear and crisp.
12575 hood, hood cap, and rear cap are included.
