Topcor 35mm f2.8. Manufactured by Tokyo Kogaku. Symmetrical optical design with 4 groups and 6 elements. Released in 1955 as an interchangeable lens for Leotax cameras.
Lightweight barrel made of aluminum and brass. Actual weight is 154g. Feet scale. The white anodized finish has a distinctive tone. Tokyo Kogaku products of this era are exceptionally well made and a pleasure to look at, and this lens is no exception.
Although not included with this lens, the dedicated Brilliant Finder that was sold as a set with it is said to be the largest viewfinder in the world for 35mm cameras. With 1x magnification, it allows shooting with both eyes open, offering a wide field of view. Its humorous appearance has made it popular even as a standalone accessory, and it is also known by the nickname Obake Finder. Mounted on a camera, it creates a truly unique look.
An excellent lens with very fine rendering.
This is a previously sold item from our store, now returned to us after being carefully used by the customer. The exterior remains unchanged from the time of the previous sale. There is a very slight plating wear below the infinity lock pin, just to the left of the minimum distance marking of 3.5 feet, but there are no dents or impacts, and the overall appearance is very clean and well preserved.
A full overhaul was carried out in 2025. Thanks to thorough servicing, all moving parts, including the aperture and helicoid, continue to operate very smoothly. The glass shows only minor coating wear, with no noticeable cleaning marks or haze, and remains clear and transparent.
It renders fine, delicate lines beautifully with a calm, refined character. Color reproduction is excellent, and when stopped down slightly, it delivers very sharp and powerful images.
Sample images from the previous sale are posted in our test gallery. We hope you will take a look.
Important note for use❗ When mounting or removing the lens, do not hold the aperture ring, as this may damage the aperture blades. An original aluminum front cap is included.
