This is the final version of the A36 Elmar 50mm f3.5, a lens that had been produced for over 30 years since the era of the Leica Model A.
As the ultimate evolution of the A36 Elmar, it stands out for its superb build quality, with a rigid barrel construction and beautifully finished matte chrome plating.
The correct original hood is FISON. The FLASHBACK original Elmar hood FB-07, which allows aperture adjustment while the hood is attached, would also make an excellent companion.
This item was originally sold by our shop and has now returned to us after being carefully used by the previous owner.
There are some minor scuffs on the nameplate, and the collapsible section shows a bit more wear. However, the condition remains essentially unchanged from when it was last sold, and overall the appearance is clean and well cared for.
The lens received a full overhaul in 2025. Thanks to thorough servicing, both the aperture and the helicoid continue to operate very smoothly with a pleasant feel. The internal anti-reflection matte lacquer has also been carefully reapplied, which should contribute to a more crisp and well-defined rendering.
There are some light cleaning marks and minor coating deterioration on both the front and rear elements, but these are unlikely to have any noticeable effect on actual photographs. No fungus or other issues are present, and the glass remains in very good condition. Test shooting results were excellent.
The original front cap is included.
