The legendary Leica M3. This example is the so-called spring wind model. The Leitz product code is IGEMO. Serial number in the 950,000 range, manufactured in 1959.
The big ear, spring-type single stroke version is a rare variant, with only about 7,500 units produced out of approximately 220,000 total M3 bodies, representing less than 3.5% of total production.
An early, classic M3 fitted with the distinctive big ear strap lugs. Although it is a single stroke model, it features the spring-loaded winding mechanism. After advancing the film, there is no ratcheting sound when returning the lever. Highly sought after for both its appearance and unique winding feel, this is a particularly desirable and popular version of the M3.

This item was originally sold by our shop and has now returned to us after being carefully used by its previous owner.
There are slight signs of use overall, but just as when we last sold it, the camera retains a very clean appearance. All parts are original, preserving its authentic period character. There is a minor ding on the right corner next to the serial number on the top cover, and small spot-like plating wear can be seen on the bottom plate. The gutta-percha covering is entirely original.
It was overhauled in 2025. The operation of all functions, including the film advance, remains exceptionally smooth.
When examined under a strong LED light, slight balsam separation can be seen along the inner edge of the finder, but this does not affect the viewing experience. The finder remains bright and crystal clear.
