Nikkor-P.C 105mm f2.5 for Leica screw mount. This is the later version without the hood-locking claws. The optical design is a Sonnar type with 3 groups and 5 elements.
This lens is an extremely rare mis-engraved Nikkor, with NIKKOR mistakenly stamped as NIKOP. Perhaps it could be read as Nikop with a smile. A truly unusual and collectible Nikkor.
Despite its reasonable price, this telephoto lens has long enjoyed an excellent reputation for its rendering. Distance scale is in feet. Introduced in 1954, approximately 22,000 units were produced across all mounts including Nikon S and Contax, of which only around 6,000 are said to have been made for Leica.
This item was previously sold by our shop and has now returned to us in the same excellent condition, having been carefully used by the previous owner.
Although many 105mm lenses on the market show heavy signs of use, this example displays very little wear and retains a clean, attractive exterior.
A full overhaul was carried out in 2024 at the request of the previous owner, and both the aperture ring and helicoid now offer superb, smooth operation.
There is one faint cleaning mark of approximately 3mm on the front element, but aside from this, there are no noticeable scratches or haze. The glass is clear and bright, matching the beautiful overall appearance of the lens.
Rangefinder coupling has been checked using our Leica M10-P, and focus accuracy is excellent.
The lens comes with the original front cap, hood, and leather case.
