Summilux-R 50mm f1.4. Late version with built-in hood. 3-cam. Leitz product code 11875. Serial number in the 3.23 million range, manufactured in 1982. Made in Germany.
The Summilux-R 50mm was introduced in 1969 for the Leicaflex SL. Early versions used a separate hood, while this example is the later version with a built-in hood. The optical design is a modified Gauss type with 7 elements in 6 groups. Minimum focusing distance is 0.5 m, and the filter size is E55.
From wide open, it delivers a sharply resolved plane of focus combined with beautifully smooth, melting bokeh, creating a distinctive and almost dreamy rendering. It fully demonstrates its capabilities even on today’s ultra high-resolution digital mirrorless cameras.
This is an item previously sold by our shop and has now returned to us. It has been carefully used by the previous owner and remains in the same fine condition as when it was last sold. There is extremely minor paint loss on the aperture ring, but overall the exterior is in very good condition.
A full overhaul was carried out in 2025. The aperture and helicoid operate very smoothly, providing a pleasant and comfortable handling experience.
A very fine mark, resembling a strand of lint, can be seen on the rear lens element, but it is unlikely to have any effect on actual images. There is no haze present. Thoroughly serviced and well suited for practical use.
The lens comes with original front and rear caps, as well as a third-party UV filter.
