A legendary German Voigtländer lens, the Nokton 50mm f1.5. This is the standard lens for the postwar Voigtländer Prominent system. The lens offered here is an early version from 1955.
It comes with the highly sought-after Amedeo rangefinder-coupled adapter, allowing you to enjoy shooting on Leica M bodies. The lens accepts 47mm screw-in filters, or 49mm filters via the internal thread.
The Nokton was designed by Dr. Albrecht Tronnier, who also designed the Xenon 50mm f1.5. It features a 5-group, 7-element construction. Near wide open, it delivers a beautiful rendering with a sharp, well-defined center and gently softened edges. Despite being a fast, large-aperture lens, its relatively compact size is another appealing point for practical shooting.
A Prominent I body is included, but it is unserviced and should be regarded as a bonus item only. The body is not covered by any operational guarantee.
Original Leica screw-mount Nokton lenses are extremely expensive due to their rarity, but this example allows you to enjoy equivalent performance at a more reasonable price. Another major advantage is its ability to focus down to 0.7 m thanks to careful modification.

There are some minor scuff marks on the lens barrel, but overall it remains clean and unchanged from its condition at the time of the previous sale.
The lens received a full overhaul in 2025. At the same time, the rangefinder coupling of the Amedeo adapter was adjusted. Rangefinder coupling works perfectly from the minimum distance of 0.7 m up to 5 m. Beyond that toward infinity, there is a very slight tendency toward back focus, but this falls within an acceptable range when stopped down by one to two stops.
There are very minor cleaning marks on the front element, but the glass is clear with no haze. No balsam separation, which is a known issue with Nokton lenses, is present. Actual shooting tests produced excellent results.
Included are an Amedeo Prominent–Leica M adapter, a Prominent I body (unserviced, no warranty), and a leather case.
With this properly adjusted adapter, not only the Nokton but also Color-Skopar and Ultron lenses can be enjoyed on Leica M cameras with full rangefinder coupling.
