Dual Range Summicron 50mm f2, early version of the close-focus Summicron.
This example bears a serial number in the 1.54 million range, manufactured in 1957. Leitz code name SOOIC-MN, also known as SOMNI, later designated as 11918. Distance scale on the helicoid is in meters.
The lens alone focuses down to 1 meter, and with the close-focus goggles attached, it allows shooting to around 0.5 meters while simultaneously correcting parallax. The superb build quality and beautifully smooth operation are quintessential of Leitz at its peak.
If you are using an M-type Leica and often find yourself wishing you could get just a little closer, this is a lens that gradually becomes irresistible.
Please note that it cannot be used on digital M cameras prior to the M10, as it interferes with the rangefinder cam. It works perfectly on the current M11.

A few very light scuffs can be seen in several places, but there are no noticeable scratches or dents, and the barrel remains clean overall, including the goggle attachment. The chrome plating is also in excellent condition.
Fully overhauled in April 2026. The aperture clicks feel crisp, and the helicoid has a smooth, well-balanced torque. All operations are silky and precise. Rangefinder coupling is spot on, and focusing is accurate.
There is one very small trace of fungus at the center of the front element, and extremely minor balsam deterioration along the edge of the rear element, but neither is expected to have any effect on image quality. Otherwise, the glass is clear and clean, free from haze or noticeable cleaning marks. The viewfinder goggles have also been properly cleaned and are in excellent condition.
Test shots with our M11 confirmed the superb rendering expected of a DR lens.
Supplied with original front and rear caps. The front cap shows multiple marks on the sides, but it attaches and detaches without issue.
