In this feature, we are introducing 13 FISON hoods at once, and this is the 7th version. 7/13

With retaining screw, brass body with aluminum front section, nickel screw, two-line engraving.

A hood for the Elmar 50mm f3.5.

This is a later black-painted FISON model with a retaining screw. Compared with the previous all-brass version with a nickel screw, the front section has been changed to aluminum.

Whether this was intended for weight reduction or simply reflected the fashion of the time is unclear, but Leica also used aluminum on certain serial number ranges of the Elmax. That said, this hood is likely from a later period than the Elmax.

As with the previous model, the engraving is arranged in two lines. By this period, the engraving was no longer silver-inlaid, but carved directly into the aluminum surface.

The base of the hood is made of brass, while the front section and the leaf springs for mounting to the lens are made of aluminum. The entire hood is finished in beautiful black paint.

It is lightweight at approximately 9.2g, almost half the weight of an all-brass FISON.

FISON is also known for its many variations, and it never fails to stir the curiosity and desire of collectors and enthusiasts.

Rare item.

There is some paint loss around the front rim of the hood and the corners of the base, but the black paint on the exterior remains well preserved. There is a very slight distortion at the front rim. Overall, this example is in good condition for a black FISON hood.

Test-fitted on an A36 Elmar. We checked the fit on several Elmar lenses, and the attachment feels slightly tight.
