Black version of the FISON lens hood for Elmar 50mm. A36 size.
FISON is well known for its wide variety of versions, endlessly intriguing collectors and enthusiasts, tempting them, puzzling them, and ultimately encouraging a bit of extravagance. This example is a somewhat rare transitional FISON. The retaining screw is nickel.

The base of the hood is brass, while the front rim and the leaf spring that secures the lens are aluminum. The entire surface is finished in beautiful black paint.

All engravings, including Elmar 5cm and others, are engraved and filled with white paint. Weight is approximately 10.1 g, making it very lightweight.

Since the same type also exists with a chrome screw, this example is believed to date from the transition period from nickel screws to chrome screws. There is also a version of this type made entirely of aluminum, including the hood base, which is even lighter.

Germany is engraved on the rear of the hood. Among Leitz accessories, the more lettering, the cooler it is considered to be according to our own Flashback standard. This hood scores very high indeed.

Rare item.

There is some minor paint loss on the edge of the hood rim and around the base, but the black finish on the exterior remains well preserved. No noticeable dents or distortion are seen. For a black FISON hood, it is in remarkably good condition.
