A popular VALAU in nickel finish. An aperture control ring originally designed for use with an enlarger.
This example is the early VALAU type, boldly engraved Leitz Wetzlar. It has a more classical appearance. Later versions adopted the hexagonal Leitz logo, and a chrome-plated version was also introduced.
Originally, the VALAU hood was intended for use with the Leica L-mount Elmar 50mm f3.5 as an enlarging accessory, but today it is often used for regular photography.
Not only is it highly functional, it is also beautifully designed, making it an excellent match for nickel Elmar 35mm and 50mm lenses. After the war, a similar accessory called VALOO was introduced, but in terms of design, this earlier VALAU clearly has the edge.
A rare item.

Only very faint signs of wear are visible overall, and the nickel plating retains a beautiful shine.
It has been mounted and tested on our Elmar 50mm and 35mm lenses, and confirmed to function properly.
