Summicron-R 50mm f2, 1-cam version. An early example with red lettering, featuring the sharp and purposeful red scale. The Leica product code is 11218. Serial number in the 1.99 million range. Manufactured in 1963, one year prior to the launch of the Summicron-R 50mm and the Leicaflex. Made in Germany.
This is a standard lens for the Leica R mount, commonly known by the nickname tapering Summicron due to its distinctive exterior design. The optical construction is a modified Gauss type with 6 elements in 4 groups. Minimum focusing distance is 0.5 meters.
As a 1-cam lens, it is compatible with the Leicaflex. With the use of a mount adapter, it can also be enjoyed on a wide range of cameras, including digital Leica M and SL series bodies.
There are signs of paint loss from use, and some dulling to the engraved lettering. It is in just the right condition for worry-free, everyday use.
All functions operate normally. The glass shows a small amount of dust, but this should have virtually no effect on actual photography. For those who wish, professional glass cleaning can be arranged at an additional cost.
The original box, 12564K hood, genuine hood cap, and plastic case are included.
Paired with a well-used Leica Flex Black Paint body, it would make an outstanding combination.
