Noctilux 50mm f1.2 and f1 E58 were followed by the third generation, the Noctilux E60 with a separate hood, early version. Leitz product code is 11821. Serial number is in the 3.15 million range. Made in 1981 by Leitz Canada.

As one of the earliest E60 Noctilux versions, its hood mounts in the same insert-and-twist style used on the previous E58 model. The correct hood is the plastic 12539.

At around f1.0 wide open, it delivers the signature Noctilux world in full, with a uniquely expressive rendering. Stopped down, it remains an outstanding performer.

This example is excellent in both exterior condition and optical quality. It comes with its matching-number original box and the period warranty card, making it ideal for collectors.

A time-machine find in near-mint condition, as if it has just arrived from the past. There are no signs of use, and it is clear that this lens has been carefully preserved.
Fully overhauled in December 2025. As always, the aperture and helicoid now have a beautifully tuned feel with just the right amount of torque. Some E60 Noctilux lenses with the separate hood system are known to have unreliable rangefinder coupling, but this one can be used with complete confidence. Accurate focus adjustment was performed during the overhaul, and rangefinder coupling is spot on. It aligned perfectly on our shop’s Leica M10-P demo body, allowing you to enjoy the lens fully even at maximum aperture.

The optics show only the slightest hint of coating deterioration, visible only when examined under a strong LED light. No cleaning marks or haze are present. This is an E60 Noctilux that delivers its true performance.
