※About rarity

Nickel-finished Hektor 5cm f2.5. No serial number. Uncoated. The rear of the focusing knob is stamped with 0. 3 groups, 6 elements. Distance scale in meters.

This example is believed to have originally been a Hektor lens supplied as standard equipment on a Leica Model A produced around 1930, later factory-converted by Leitz to Leica L mount. Many Hektors of this type are clearly shorter in barrel length, but this particular lens appears, at first glance, to have a barrel length close to that of a regular Hektor. The helicoid is the full-circumference type, and since the rear of the distance knob is flat, there is no risk of interference with an LM adapter.

Examples of this type of Hektor are extremely scarce on the market, and most have been heavily worn from hard use. This piece, however, is a remarkably clean example — an unnumbered Hektor with superb rendering performance.

The correct original hood is the FIKUS, but our in-house FB-10 hood with built-in aperture operation function can also be used.

Previously sold by our shop. It was carefully used by its owner and has now returned to us once again.

The condition remains excellent, just as when we last sold it. There are faint signs of rubbing around the nameplate area and on the collapsible barrel section, but for a nickel Hektor it presents a very clean appearance. No dents or distortions are visible, and it is clearly a piece that has been treated with care over many years.

It appears to have been properly serviced by the previous owner, and all operations feel smooth and precise. Rangefinder coupling is spot on.

The front element shows very faint cleaning marks, but otherwise there are no noticeable scratches or haze. For a Hektor, the glass is in remarkably fine condition.

Test shooting results were excellent. The rendering is graceful, with delicate lines emerging from a gentle softness. Rangefinder coupling was accurate, and shooting with it was a true pleasure. Sample images have been posted in our Test Shoot Gallery. All images were taken wide open without a hood. Perhaps thanks to the fine condition of the glass, color reproduction is rich, and the images have a pleasing core sharpness.

Original front and rear caps are included. The front cap is bakelite, and the rear cap is brass. A condition that is becoming increasingly hard to find.
