A wide-angle lens by French maker Som Berthiot, Angulor 28mm f3.3. Leica screw mount. Serial number 107xxxx. Optical construction of 4 groups, 6 elements. The focusing scale on the helicoid is marked in meters. Features a beautifully clear blue coating typical of Berthiot lenses.
Among the many barrel variations of the Angulor 28mm, this example is the later lightweight all-aluminum version. Actual weight is 144g.
A charmingly stylish design characteristic of French lenses. Despite its compact size, it delivers surprisingly sharp performance with vivid color reproduction. Its distinctive rendering and restrained character offer a unique perspective quite different from German or Japanese lenses. Recommended for those seeking a 28mm with individuality.
A rare item.
Originally sold by our shop, this piece has been carefully used by its owner and has now returned to us once again. This marks its third time being offered here. Welcome back!
The aluminum barrel shows some signs of use such as light scuffing, but for an Angulor it remains in very clean cosmetic condition. Its state is unchanged from when we last sold it.
In 2026, it underwent a full overhaul for the first time in several years. The aperture and helicoid have regained their beautifully smooth operation, making it a joy to use and easy to immerse yourself in shooting.
When examined under strong LED light, a single very faint cleaning mark can be seen on the front element. There is also extremely minor coating wear. However, there is no haze or fungus, and overall the glass is very clean for an Angulor.
The results from our test shots were excellent. The center rendering is very sharp, with pleasing color reproduction. The sample images are from the previous time we sold this lens, and we would appreciate it if you could take a look at them.
Third-party front and rear caps are included.
