Early version of the Leitz waist-level 50mm reflex finder, AUFSU. Introduced in 1929. The field of view corresponds to a 50mm lens.
It is mounted on the accessory shoe. When attached sideways at a 90-degree angle, it can also be used as a horizontal eye-level finder. The later version comes with its own accessory shoe.
A compact and finely crafted accessory with the precision typical of Leitz. A charming and somewhat rare item. Practicality aside, it is the kind of piece that makes you want to mount it on a Leica Model A, DII, or DIII.
A rare item.
This item was previously sold by our shop. It was carefully used by its owner and has now returned to us.
There are areas of paint loss across the exterior, but no major scratches or dents. It clearly saw real use back in the day, and one cannot help but wonder how it was used over the years. The front glass shows numerous small marks.
In 2021, it underwent disassembly and cleaning of the glass and prism by a professional technician, along with repair of minor chips. The view remains clear and usable.
While it is not particularly practical as an accessory, it is in a condition that allows for worry-free use and is well suited for practical enjoyment.
