Summilux 50mm f1.4, 2nd generation, original black paint. Serial number in the 2.22 million range, produced in 1966.
This example features yellow lettering and a yellow scale, with beautifully preserved amber and purple coatings—a fully original condition lens.
While it follows the same barrel design as the early Summilux 50mm f1.4, the black paint finish gives it a striking, dignified appearance—a true black beauty.
Soon after this production batch, the barrel base design was changed from the lattice pattern to a simpler vertical groove style, creating a more modern look. The lattice-pattern barrel, carried over from the 1st generation and costly to produce, exudes a more classical and substantial impression.
A perfect match for black paint Leica M bodies such as the M3, M2, and M4. A rare and highly sought-after piece.
Previously sold by our shop. Carefully used by the customer and now returned to us again for its third sale.
Only minimal paint loss can be seen on the filter ring, aperture ring, and focusing ring, and the overall appearance remains excellent. There are no dents or major marks. The mount surface is also very clean, matching the fine condition of the body. The black-painted depth-of-field scale area at the base of the barrel shows small bubbles, adding to its unique character.
Fully overhauled in 2023. Thanks to the meticulous servicing, the aperture, helicoid, and all operations remain exceptionally smooth. Rangefinder coupling is perfectly accurate.
The lens glass is beautifully clear with no visible cleaning marks or haze. The original coating is still intact on all surfaces. Optical test results were excellent.
Comes with original front and rear caps.
