Tessar 5cm f2.8 in black and nickel, produced during the Contax I era.
Uncoated. Made by Carl Zeiss Jena. A collapsible lens compatible with the Contax internal bayonet mount. 3 elements in 4 groups.
The rendering offers a superb balance between the soft, atmospheric character unique to uncoated lenses and a crisp, well-defined plane of focus. It delivers gentle bokeh with minimal distortion. While somewhat sensitive to backlight, its subdued color rendition enhances the classic old lens look.
With the use of an adapter, it can also be enjoyed on Leica M bodies and various mirrorless cameras.
Very light wear can be seen on the collapsible section, along with slight dulling of the plating due to age, but overall it remains a beautifully preserved example that hardly shows its 90 years of history.
The front element shows very faint cleaning marks and slight glass haze from aging, but there is no fogging or fungus, and the glass remains clear with good transparency.
The results of our test shooting were also very good. A slight effect can be observed in strong backlit conditions under harsh sunlight, but for normal use it performs very comfortably. We would appreciate it if you could also take a look at the sample images in our gallery.
