Super wide-angle lens, Super-Angulon 21mm f3.4. Serial number 2.37 million, manufactured in 1969. Black chrome finish. Made by Schneider. Leitz product code 11103.
The filter size is E48, or Series VII when used together with the 12501 hood. Rangefinder coupling works down to 1 meter, but with scale focusing the lens can focus as close as 0.4 meters. This is a welcome feature in the modern era where live view is widely used.
As the rear element protrudes significantly, please take great care when mounting the lens via an adapter to ensure that the rear of the lens does not come into contact with the inside of the camera. Metering will not function correctly, so exposure must be set manually.
With digital Leica M cameras other than the M11, color shift appears toward the edges, so monochrome shooting is recommended. Composing with the dynamic light and shadow unique to an ultra-wide-angle lens can be great fun.
There are hardly any signs of use on both the lens itself and the hood, and they are in very clean cosmetic condition.
The aperture and helicoid operate smoothly, and rangefinder coupling is spot on.
Under strong LED light, there is very slight coating deterioration that can be identified, along with minor edge separation on the rear lens group, but these have virtually no effect on actual photography. Real-world test results were excellent, and the lens delivers very sharp rendering even wide open.
The 12501 hood, 14102P front lens cap, non-original front and rear caps, and the original box are included.
A black Angulon in this condition rarely comes onto the market. Highly recommended for collectors as well.
