Elmarit 90mm f2.8 with a chrome barrel. Serial number in the 2.12 million range, manufactured in 1965. Leitz product code 11129. It features an outstanding design with exceptionally fine finishing, and delivers superb image quality. Minimum focusing distance is 1 meter.
Many Elmarit 90mm lenses on the market are heavily worn or have been left unattended for years, often suffering from severe haze in the glass. This example, however, retains its beautiful original appearance from its early days, and the glass is crystal clear with excellent transparency.
By removing the lens head and fitting the 16464 (OTZFO) adapter, it can also be used on a Visoflex system. The vertically long helicoid ring has a well-judged rotation angle, making operation very smooth and comfortable. Despite being an f2.8 telephoto lens with a 3-group, 5-element optical design, it weighs only 333 grams, making it well suited even for snap shooting.
This is a genuine domestic-market item and comes complete with a Schmidt warranty card.
There are extremely faint rub marks on the very edge of the filter rim from attaching and removing the cap, but aside from that there is virtually no sign of use. The satin chrome finish has a calm, refined luster, resulting in a remarkably beautiful overall appearance.
Matching this fine exterior, the glass is crystal clear with no cleaning marks or haze whatsoever. Examples with both exterior and glass in this level of condition are very rarely seen.
The aperture ring and helicoid operate smoothly and with a pleasing feel. Rangefinder coupling is spot on, and focus snaps in crisply, delivering sharp images even wide open and at the minimum focusing distance.
The set comes with the matching original box, front cap, and the original Schmidt warranty card.
An exceptionally hard-to-find condition—highly recommended for collectors as well.
