Leitz Quick Tripod Fix. Product code SDOOG.
A one-touch attachment for quickly mounting and removing your camera from a tripod. A small accessory with beautiful nickel plating and a lovely sheen.
Produced in limited numbers from 1936 to 1949; a chrome version also exists. The outer diameter measures 30mm. The reverse side is engraved with the hexagonal E. LEITZ logo.
The mechanism separates into two sections vertically: the upper part attaches to the camera, the lower part to the tripod. By firmly pressing in the protrusions on both sides, the two sections can be detached. The spring tension is quite strong, so it requires a solid push, but the precise, reassuring action is unmistakably Leitz.
Superb craftsmanship. Accessories from this era of Leitz are finished to an exceptional standard, and simply looking at them is a pleasure. Pair it with a rare nickel miniature tripod head and enjoy the moment.
A rare and unusual item.
Some minor scuffing can be seen on the bottom surface. The knurled section on the side still shines beautifully. It requires a bit of force to separate, but as it should never come off accidentally, this is likely how it was originally intended. The felt that comes into contact with the body remains firmly in place.
Suitable for practical use or for your collection.
