A rare nickel NOOKY. This example is for the Elmar 50mm f3.5. Finished in nickel, it is the early type without magnification markings. An uncommon accessory.
Introduced around 1935, when chrome finish became the mainstream, the nickel version was produced only in very small numbers. Please note that it cannot be used with collapsible lenses other than the Elmar.
The NOOKY is a close-up accessory for Barnack Leicas. Mounted between the lens and the body, it enables close focusing down to approximately 50cm (1:6.5) while simultaneously correcting parallax—an ingenious piece of design.
This example has the narrower finder frame and is compatible with the Leica DII through IIIa. Paired with a black-paint Leica DII or DIII and a nickel Elmar, it creates a beautifully cohesive look and offers a distinctive way to enjoy your Barnack Leica.
A scarce item.

There are signs of age-appropriate use, including minor wear to the nickel plating and small scratches throughout, but considering the nearly 90 years this piece has lived through, it remains in remarkably good condition.
It is slightly unfortunate that the helicoid operating lever is chrome-plated rather than nickel, though the overall atmosphere of the piece is well preserved. This part may have been replaced at a later date; however, there is no sense of inconsistency in its wear or appearance. As it was manufactured in the mid-1930s, a transitional period from nickel to chrome plating, it is also possible that certain chrome parts were fitted from the beginning.
In February 2026, the helicoid was regreased and the entire unit inspected by a specialist technician. The operation is smooth and precise.
