A folding viewfinder for the Hektor 28mm. The Leitz product code is SUOOQ, also known as the Dice Finder. This example is the rare black and nickel version.
The classic pairing is with a black-paint Leica D II or D III and a nickel Hektor 2.8cm, but taking it a step further by adding a Leica Pistol Grip turns it into the ultimate snapshot shooter—an exceptional ensemble.
The folding mechanism itself is an engaging little gimmick, and this is a pre-war Leitz accessory that strongly appeals to the collector’s sense of ownership.
Slight paint loss can be seen on the edge of the objective side. In addition, there is some paint loss and light rubbing at the joint between the head and the base (the area visible on the front when the unit is arranged in a cube-like configuration). Aside from these points, the black paint retains a very nice texture, and the overall condition is extremely clean.
The glass shows a very faint haze consistent with age, but there are no cleaning marks, and the view remains clear and pleasant. All moving parts operate smoothly.
The original box is included, making this piece well suited for a collection.
