A Swiss-made SLR camera by Pignons S.A., the ALPA 6c in black paint. Produced circa 1960 to 1967.
While 3,605 units of the 6c were made in silver finish, only 418 examples were produced in black paint. A rare model.

Within the ALPA lineup, this is an early eye-level model. It carries over from the predecessor 6b the split-image focusing screen, self-timer, and rotating, unevenly spaced shutter, while adding a non-coupled selenium light meter, a horizontal eye-level finder, and the distinctive pantograph-style rewind crank.

This particular camera has seen a fair amount of use, and the areas of visible black paint wear give it a wonderfully appealing character. With its tough, purposeful look, it begs to be paired with all-black Macro-Switar lenses. The exposure meter is functioning, making this an ALPA 6c that can be genuinely enjoyed in practical use.

Black paint loss can be seen on the wind lever, accessory shoe, around the bottom cover hinge, and on the edges of the top cover and base plate.
Overhauled in January 2026. All functions are in good working order. The selenium light meter operates correctly, and the viewfinder is clear and pleasant to use.

One important point to note during operation: on ALPA cameras, the shutter speed must be set precisely to align with the index mark on the shutter speed dial, otherwise accurate shutter speeds cannot be achieved. This is especially critical at 1/250, 1/500, and 1/1000, where the spacing between the markings is extremely narrow and requires extra care. Please be sure to check carefully when using these speeds.
