※About rarity

Genuine Leitz ever-ready case for the Leica Model A.
This shape was later carried over to the ever-ready cases for the Barnack-type Leicas. Note that cases from this early period do not yet have a tripod socket.
The exact production period is unknown, but it is likely not for the very earliest Model A, and was probably intended for cameras from around the introduction of the New Elmar. In addition to the Model A, it concluded to fit the Model C, Standard, and D II. Not tested, but the Compur Leica Model B, with its protruding shutter housing, will likely not fit.
Despite the lack of a tripod socket, the Leica A and D II sit in the case with an excellent, precise fit and outstanding stability. As expected from Leitz, it is superbly well made.
Please note that later models from the D III onward, which have strap lugs, will not fit.
Rare item.

There is some deterioration of the leather in a few areas of the strap, and a natural, time-earned patina consistent with its more than 90 years since manufacture. However, there is no notable damage, and the leather shines beautifully with a warm amber tone. The condition remains more than suitable for practical use.
The supple, high-quality leather has a wonderfully pleasing feel, gently clinging to the hand. As a true lover of leather goods, one can only hope that it will continue to be cherished and used for many years to come.
