Leica R-mount telephoto lens, Apo-Telyt-R 180mm f3.4, made in Canada.
Originally designed in the early 1970s for a special reconnaissance project commissioned by the U.S. military, the lens was developed by Leitz Canada and released commercially in 1975. It features special glass elements that allow shooting in the infrared spectrum without additional correction.
This particular lens has a serial number in the 3,470,000 range and was manufactured in 1989. It accepts E60 filters.
With its moderate maximum aperture of f3.4, it offers excellent handling without being too heavy or too dim. The built-in hood and clean, minimalist design make it a practical and portable telephoto lens.
This is an item previously sold by our shop. It was carefully used by the customer and has now returned to us. The exterior is in excellent condition, showing no signs of wear, scratches, or dents, even around the mount area.
Fully overhauled in 2024. The aperture ring retains a pleasant, crisp click, and the helicoid operates smoothly, providing an excellent tactile feel.
The glass is clear and free from cleaning marks. There is only the slightest sign of coating wear, which does not affect image quality. Test shots produced excellent results.
Comes with an E60 UVa filter (13381), a Rayqual Leica R to Leica M adapter, and a genuine front cap.
