Summilux-M 35mm f1.4. Introduced in 1961, this is the reissue of the first-generation Summilux 35mm, commonly known as the Steel Rim, which continues to enjoy strong popularity and rising prices today. This particular lens was released in 2022, with a serial number in the 4.83 million range. Leica product code 11301.
In addition to faithfully recreating the original optical design, the dedicated OLLUX lens hood from that era has also been reproduced. The filter diameter has been updated from E41 to E46.
The rendering differs slightly from the original first-generation Summilux 35mm, offering less peripheral softness and a more cohesive image even at full aperture.
It shows almost no signs of use and is in exceptionally beautiful condition—virtually indistinguishable from new.
Both the aperture and focusing rings move smoothly, providing an excellent tactile feel. While some of the reissued Steel Rim lenses have been known to show inconsistent rangefinder coupling, this particular example is perfectly calibrated. Remarkably, it exhibits minimal focus shift even when stopped down, delivering sharp and consistent results from close range to infinity.
The glass is crystal clear, free from haze or cleaning marks.
As original Steel Rim versions have become increasingly difficult to obtain, this faithful reissue with its classic design presents a fine alternative.
Comes with the E46 screw-in 12486 hood, OLLUX reissue 12487 hood, pouch, manual, and original box.
A complete, near-mint set with all accessories included.
