Leitz 90-degree sideways viewfinder, WINKO, for Leica A and related models. This early version features a Bakelite eyepiece and a larger diameter than later examples. Produced around 1929. The black paint finish is especially attractive.
This accessory was designed to help photograph subjects who might otherwise be distracted by the photographer’s direct gaze, allowing for more natural and unobtrusive shooting.
There are light signs of wear overall, with some brass showing at the edges, but the black paint and engravings remain well preserved.
The glass shows some haze, though viewing performance is still decent. It poses no issue for practical use, and cleaning can be arranged separately at an additional cost if desired.
The original case is included.
