Leica A modified to Standard. A Leica Model A from 1930, serial number in the 50,000 range, later converted by Leitz into a lens-interchangeable Standard model. At the 0 o’clock position of the lens mount, there is a 0 engraving. These genuine factory conversions by Leitz are often referred to overseas as Factory Conversion. The tripod socket is the large thread type.
A scale-focus, interchangeable-lens Leica that invites enjoyable combinations with your favorite nickel lenses or standalone rangefinders. Please note that standalone finders such as the Vidom may interfere with the standard 50mm finder that is built in.
This example appears to have seen little use after the conversion, and the piano-black finish remains beautifully preserved.
Minor signs of use such as light scuffs and small scratches can be seen, but the overall appearance remains very good. There are no noticeable dents or dings. The gutta-percha covering is also clean and well preserved.
Overhauled in February 2026. The winding and rewind knobs operate smoothly, and all functions are in excellent working order. The viewfinder is clear and bright, allowing for a pleasant shooting experience.
