The 35S is an upgraded model equipped with a fast f2.8 Sonnar lens featuring Rollei’s proprietary HFT (High-Fidelity-Transfer) coating. The helicoid distance scale shows feet on the top and meters on the bottom.
Designed by Heinz Waaske, this compact 35mm camera is a true masterpiece that influenced the design of many later cameras. It is among the smallest full-frame 35mm cameras ever made, with a collapsible lens for portability and remarkably efficient packaging. A highly practical built-in exposure meter is also included.

It has a well-used look that tells of its active years of service. The black paint shows some bubbling from age, and the exposed brass and aluminum give it a rugged, handsome presence.
All functions operate smoothly, and the light meter works properly.
When illuminated with a strong LED light, a very faint haze can be seen in the viewfinder, but it has no effect on visibility—the finder view remains clear.
The lens glass is clean and bright, free from wiping marks or haze.
