Leica M3 black paint model shipped on April 8, 1964. Serial number in the 1.09 million range. Late version of the M3 with single-stroke advance and black enamel finish.
This example remains fully original, including its vulcanite covering. Tiny blisters are visible across nearly all painted surfaces, and areas frequently touched by fingers reveal the underlying brass. A camera with a deeply evocative patina that only comes from long and genuine use.
The black paint shows signs of aging with fine bubbling and wear from handling. The top cover in particular has developed a dense, matte texture due to small paint blisters. There are no dents, dings, or major scratches on the body, giving the impression that it has been carefully used over the years. The vulcanite covering is completely original and shows no chips or missing parts.
Overhauled in October 2025. Thanks to careful servicing, all mechanical operations—film advance, shutter speed dial, and self-timer—feel smooth and pleasant to use. The viewfinder is clear and easy to see through.
Not overly pristine, this M3 Black Paint has just the right balance for everyday use. A well-tempered Leica that pairs beautifully with any black paint lens.
