SOOME, later code 11114. This is a white-barrel Summilux 50mm f1.4 2nd version, serial number in the 2.07 million range, manufactured in 1964. Among Leica lenses, this is considered one of the most elegantly designed, often referred to as the Ki-fujin (Lady) for its graceful and refined appearance.

While it shares the same exterior as the first-generation Summilux, the lens construction was quietly updated to the second generation, resulting in sharper rendering at wide open apertures. This particular lens features amber and purple coatings. Filter size is E43.

The unique softness of the 1st generation has its own charm, but many prefer the 2nd generation for its subtle sharpness even at full aperture. This is a well-rounded lens, ideal for those who wish to actively enjoy shooting wide open.

This item was previously sold by our shop and has now returned after being carefully used by its owner. This is the third time it has come back to us for sale.
There are two or three very light scuffs on the helicoid ring, but overall the exterior remains in very clean condition.
Fully overhauled in 2023, with precise maintenance ensuring that both the aperture and helicoid still operate with a very smooth feel. Rangefinder coupling is also perfect.
On the edge of the rear element there is an extremely tiny mark, possibly a residue from the overhaul that could not be removed, but otherwise the glass is exceptionally clean with no visible wipe marks or haze, offering a clear and bright view. Coating on all surfaces is well preserved.
A white-barrel Summilux with glass condition this good has become quite scarce in recent years, making this a fine example to fully enjoy the lens’s original rendering.
