A very clean Elmar 35mm f3.5 with coating. Product code EKURZ. Serial number in the 640 thousand range, made in 1947. Leica screw mount with meter focusing scale, a welcome feature for snap shooters. The coating shows a light blue tint.
Among Leitz lenses, it is the second thinnest after the Hektor 28mm. Its compact size offers excellent mobility not only on Barnack bodies but also when mounted on an M-mount Leica.
At full aperture it produces an atmospheric rendering with natural vignetting, offering an orthodox yet surprisingly deep character that rewards continued use. Thanks to the coated optics, this example delivers a calmer image even in backlit or high-contrast scenes.
This classic Leica wide-angle lens has long been loved and is seeing renewed appreciation in recent years.
Compatible hoods are FLQOO or FOOKH. Our shop’s original FB-07 hood for the Elmar is also available.
Light rubbing can be seen around the base of the barrel, but there are no other noticeable marks, and the overall appearance is exceptionally clean. A beautiful condition that seldom appears on the market.
Fully overhauled in November 2025. Thanks to the careful service, both the aperture and focusing helicoid operate with a very smooth and pleasant feel. The internal anti-reflection lacquer has also been neatly renewed, contributing to a crisper rendering. Rangefinder coupling is accurate.
The inner element shows a trace of coating deterioration that can only be seen under a strong LED light, but it has virtually no impact on image quality. There are no notable cleaning marks, and the glass is beautifully clear with excellent transparency.
The results from our test shots were also excellent. The coating provides a crisp, sharp rendering with solid contrast.
Comes with the original front cap.
