Summicron-R 50mm f2, 2-cam. Early red lettering, the sharp-looking red scale version. Leica product code 11218. Serial number in the 2.11 million range, manufactured in 1965. Made in Germany.
A standard lens for the Leica R mount, commonly known as the tapered Summicron due to its distinctive shape. Optical construction is a modified Gauss type with 4 groups and 6 elements. Minimum focusing distance is 0.5m.
As a 2-cam version, compatible bodies include Leicaflex I, II, as well as Leicaflex SL and SL2. With the use of a mount adapter, it can also be enjoyed on a wide range of cameras including digital Leica M and SL series.

There is some paint loss at the front edge of the barrel caused by hood attachment, but otherwise it shows minimal signs of use and remains in very clean cosmetic condition.
Fully overhauled in March 2026. With careful servicing, both the aperture and helicoid operate very smoothly with a nicely damped, refined feel.
The glass shows some faint traces of fungus remaining around the periphery of the rear element, but this has no practical impact on image quality. It has been thoroughly cleaned, and there should be no further progression.
Test shots turned out very well. Sample images are available in our gallery, and we hope you will take a look. While it offers the same reassuring stability as the standard Leica M-mount Summicron 50mm, it also delivers a distinctive rendering with its own unique character in the bokeh.
A 12564 hood, original hood cap, Series 6 UVa filter, and 14160 filter adapter are included.
