Prewar Tessar 5cm f3.5. Uncoated. Manufactured in 1932 by Carl Zeiss Jena. This was the standard lens of the Contax II and III era. Collapsible chrome barrel, designed for the Contax internal bayonet mount. Optical construction of 3 groups 4 elements.
A renowned lens from Zeiss. Lightweight and compact, yet offering a practical brightness of f3.5. When paired with the reliable and smooth-operating Contax II, it becomes a fine companion. It can also be enjoyed on various mirrorless cameras via adapter.
There are scuffs on the collapsible barrel and slight plating loss on the outer edge of the aperture ring, but overall the appearance is good.
The aperture operates normally. The front element shows some wiping marks, rather many. When held up to a strong LED light, they are only just visible, but each surface shows slight glass tanning.
It comes with a postwar Zeiss genuine resin front cap, known for its ease of use, and a genuine green filter.
