Nikkor-P 105mm f2.5 for Nikon rangefinder cameras. Introduced in 1954. A Sonnar-type optical design with 5 elements in 3 groups. The helicoid distance scale is marked in feet. This is one of the classic telephoto lenses for the Nikon S series. This particular example is the later version without the prongs for securing the hood.
In addition to the Nikon S mount, versions were also produced for Leica and Contax cameras, with total production of approximately 22,000 lenses.
Despite its affordable price, this lens delivers excellent image quality. By using an adapter such as the Rayqual SC - LM adapter for Nikon S external bayonet lenses, which is also available from our shop, it can be enjoyed on digital Leica M bodies and other cameras using live view.
This item was previously sold by our shop and has now returned to us after being carefully used by its previous owner.
There are some light rub marks on the plating around the front edge, and some wear near the mount lock button at the base where a small amount of the underlying metal is visible. Overall, however, the lens remains clean and presentable, with the black paint still well preserved.
Under the previous owner, the lens received a general service by Kiitos. The aperture and helicoid still operate smoothly, and the rangefinder coupling is working properly. The aperture blades are also clean.
The glass shows a few very light cleaning marks on an internal element, but these are unlikely to have any noticeable effect on actual photography. Otherwise, the glass is clear and bright with no haze. The original coating remains on each lens surface.
Original front and rear caps are included. One of the tabs on the rear cap is broken.
