Hektor 50mm f2.5, nickel finish. Serial number in the 120,000 range, manufactured in 1931. Leitz product code is HEKTOR.
Optical construction is 3 groups and 6 elements. Distance scale is in meters. Uncoated. The infinity lock button is the pin type. Helicoid number is 5. The helicoid is full-rotation type, but the back of the lock button has been secured with a screw so that it operates smoothly through an adapter without stress (it can also be restored to the original condition).
The rendering near full aperture has a pleasing softness. The Hektor 5cm is often known as a rather risky lens, as many examples have unreliable focusing, image formation, or rangefinder coupling. However, this copy couples perfectly, passed the shooting test with excellent results, and allows you to enjoy photographing with confidence.
This is an item previously sold by our shop. It has been carefully used by a familiar customer and is now being offered for the fifth time. A so-called Flashback pedigree Hektor, if you will.
A full overhaul was carried out in 2021, and thanks to the meticulous servicing it still remains in excellent condition. The nickel plating shows only the slightest wear, making it exceptionally beautiful for a nickel Hektor.
The aperture and helicoid still provide a smooth, refined feel, with a pleasant tactile response. Rangefinder coupling is spot on.
The lens shows a few faint cleaning marks on the front element and a slight glass burn visible only under LED light, but considering that most Hektors are heavily worn, finding one in better condition would be difficult.
A lens that is equally enjoyable to admire and to shoot with. Test shots from the previous sale have been posted in our Sample Gallery, all taken wide open. We invite you to take a look.
Comes with genuine accessories: a Bakelite front cap and a black-painted rear cap.
