Elmarit 90mm f2.8 in black chrome finish. Yellow scale engraving. Leica catalog number 11129. Serial number is in the 2.42-million range, manufactured in 1970. Optical construction is 3 groups and 5 elements.
In 1965, the Canadian-made successor Tele-Elmarit was introduced, but this Elmarit continued to be produced in Germany in parallel.
It offers excellent image quality similar to the Tele-Elmarit. The helicoid and aperture ring sit in natural positions and deliver superb handling. By removing the lens head and attaching the 16464 (OTZFO) adapter, it can also be used with the Visoflex.
For a medium-telephoto lens it is lightweight, measuring 324g. It pairs easily with a standard lens and is ideal for carrying around for spontaneous shooting.
The correct hood is IUFOO (12575), and it accepts E39 filters.
There is no noticeable sign of use and the exterior remains very clean, still retaining the atmosphere of when it was new.
All functions operate correctly. The aperture ring clicks with a pleasant feel, and there are no scratches or oil on the blades. Rangefinder coupling and focusing accuracy are both excellent.
A few tiny dust particles are visible in the middle elements, but they have virtually no effect on actual photography. The glass is clear and crisp, with no fungus or cleaning marks. Elmarit lenses often show haze, but this one is in remarkably good condition. Test shots also produced very good results.
Comes with non-original front and rear caps.
