※About rarity

Fisheye-Elmarit-R 16mm f2.8. Leica product code 11222. It was introduced at Photokina in 1974, during an era when fisheye lenses were in vogue and offered by many manufacturers. This lens was produced in Japan with technical cooperation from Minolta.

It is compatible with the Leicaflex SL-2 and later models. The serial number is in the 2.99 million range, manufactured in 1979. Optical construction consists of 8 groups and 11 elements, with a minimum focusing distance of 30 cm. The built-in turret filter system includes four options: UV, yellow, orange, and blue. The hood has a distinctive four-blade design, serving both as a lens guard and as a hood.

There are some small areas of black paint loss on the tip of the hood and on the helicoid ring, but overall the exterior is quite clean.
All functions operate normally. The glass is free from noticeable cleaning marks or haze, remaining clear and bright. The yellow filter shows slight haze, but the other filters are clear. Test shots also produced good results.
Original front and rear caps are included.
